Your new role
As an Upholsterer at our Lincoln House DFS manufacturing site, you will be a key member of our fast-paced production team, responsible for crafting high-quality upholstered furniture. Working in a results-driven environment, your role will involve applying your expertise to ensure that each piece meets our exacting standards of craftsmanship and quality. You will be expected to work efficiently and effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
Your key duties will include cutting and fitting fabrics, foams, and other materials to frames, using a variety of tools and techniques to upholster furniture to specification.
This is a dynamic role that requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards that DFS is known for. Once you have completed your training, the role is paid by results, meaning you will have the opportunity to earn more based on your productivity and the quality of your work. You will be part of a supportive team, but must be able to work independently and stay focused in a fast-moving environment.

Location - DFS Northern Upholstery, Bentley Moor Lane, Doncaster, DN6 7BD
Shift Pattern - This role will operate on our alternate shift:
- 5:30 am until 13:50 Monday - Friday
- 14:00 till 00:30 Monday to Wednesday and 14:00 until 00:05 on a Thursday
What you'll be doing
- Producing high quality upholstered products in line with specifications
- Preparing frames for upholstery including adding different foams and fibres
- Using a range of springs to ensure our products are prepared for upholstery
- In some instances, fill cushions using different fillings to complete the product
- Work with a large range of materials including fabrics and leathers to upholster our products
- If needed, cut various materials ready for upholstery
- Ensure tension and straining methods are used when positioning materials
- Use a range of trimmings and finishings including buttons, facings, piping and decorative studs
- Use compressed air equipment like staple guns as well as hand tools
- Creating different types of pleats including scroll arm, envelope and puckering
- Ensure you work as part of a team on piece work production, to ensure manufacturing runs smoothly
- Maintain your knowledge of all DFS products to ensure you know the specifications
- Ensure that the Company’s Health and Safety Policies are applied and adhered to
- Ensure your workspace is tidy and not causing any obstruction for you or your colleagues
- On occasion and as required assist on other areas of manufacturing
